Marbled Paper, An Obsession With

So … do I really need to introduce this stuff? If you’ve spent a millisecond on Pinterest, you will have noticed the entire world heaving its collective bosom over marbled paper. Framing it, decoupaging with it, DIYing it … I mean … duh. It’s awesome. I am personally so obsessed with it that I have to force myself NOT to do any more marbled paper projects in this house. Two major projects is the limit. Which makes me super sad, because I really want to do THIS. On everything.

Anyway …

I did the decoupage thing first and covered our coffee table in it, which completely brought the table to life. Purple marble?? Too good.

I used this incredible marbled paper in Pirouette from Paper Mojo (this color is also available at Paper Source). I only needed two sheets for the entire table, and like I said above, PURPLE MARBLE. I glued it on there with Elmer’s, I believe. That or paper Mod Podge. It doesn’t really matter – any lightweight, slow-drying glue will work. I still have to seal the top, but it’s held up pretty well over the last couple of months, and the accidental coffee ring is practically invisible over the crazy pattern. I mean, whatever. The world isn’t perfect, people. If I had sealed it immediately, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who can see it with the human eye anyway.

And THEN …

I wallpapered the nook in our hallway with this glorious stuff.

This project took like two hours or something. And I sort of feel like I could lie face down and never do anything ever again and still feel as though I’d accomplished my life’s work. When I die, I want my ashes to be scattered in this nook, I love it so much. I used the same paper in Black, Gold & Silver, and I only needed six sheets. I also made my own wallpaper paste out of corn starch, so this project was less than $50. I mean … COME ON. Only a very fancy millionaire could live here!

Life’s. Work.

Somebody else did this in their bathroom, ps – same paper and everything – so I didn’t invent this wheel. But does it effing matter when it looks this good??

This is such an awesome and inexpensive way to upcycle / recycle even wrapping paper.

I’m all for change and frankly, being able to change up one wall every so often is not a bad thing. This is a great way to freshen up any room at any time.

    Enjoy!

  17. I love how versatile DIY is, especially this marble project. Until five minutes ago, I was oblivious to this marble trend (where have I been? Living under a very bland rock??) but I definitely want to try it out this summer. I also LOVE your look-book for fall of 2014. Some pieces have a Downton Abbey flair that I’m coveting. Keep on crafting! Love from http://cayisa.wordpress.com/ xo
