Dining Table Makeover: Sneak Peek

I’ve got lots of stuff to do today and I’m trying to get myself pumped up for it all, but I wanted to first pop in and say “hi” and show you our dining room table real quick:

That should actually say “before” and “during” ’cause I’m still working on it, but still. Whoa. Big difference. And a big risk. Honestly, I’m a little hesitant to post this without the chairs and styling and stuff, but you know how impatient I am – I just couldn’t wait. I will say this — it looks SO MUCH BETTER with the white chairs now. And much more balanced in the room. I kinda hate that one eye sees sort of a country thing when I look at it, but thankfully my other eye sees 18th century New England, which balances it out. I think as long as I never put a rooster anywhere near it (which shouldn’t ever be a problem), it’ll be okay. One thing is certain: it no longer looks like a “set” with the chairs – just complementary pieces, which I prefer.

Whatever, some people will hate it, but you gotta live your life, right? As of now, I’m kinda loving it. And I’m really excited to show you the entire set up – with the chairs and the credenza and stuff. As crazy as this table is, it is now the grounding piece in the room, which allows all of the other stuff to let their freak flags fly. But you know, in the most elegant way possible. Or something. I dunno, I got stuff to do. Here’s my crazy table: Bam.

  3. Wow that is incredible!!! great job!

  4. I love the colors you chose! I’m very curious to see how it all looks together. Is that gold paint? It looks like some of the wood grain is showing through, which looks rad.
