Studs and Leather

It’s days like these when I wish I had taken my brother’s advice and called this blog “Hand Jobs” – that, with the title of today’s post, would have been a siren’s song for blog traffic.  On a related note, the original title of this post was “Puttin’ these Studs in All the Wrong Places” and now I can’t get this out of my head.  Anyway . . . the front of my imitation Versace for H&M shirt is now a studded masterpiece.  It took a lifetime AND I had to redo quite a few of the studs, BUT it is looking so super fly now.

It’s like part Versace, part road warrior, part mariachi band and I love it.  I’m about 3/4 of the way through one of the sleeves and hopefully I’ll be able to finish both up this weekend and start stitching this thing together next week.  Unfortunately I can’t wear it with my new leather pants, because they are BROKEN.  Let me tell you about this . . .

So first, I bought imitation leather pants on Ebay – I figured I should give something like that a try before investing in real leather pants.  They were like crazy too small – I wear a size four in everything and these size four pants only fit my backside, meaning, the sides of the zipper were approximately at my hips.  But they looked really great in the back, so I added black wool panels to the sides at the top and they looked even more awesome and fit like a dang DREAM.  Then I wore them to an event on Saturday, felt super hot and everyone was talking about my awesome leather pants.  Until . . . the faux leather started rubbing off and sticking to EVERYTHING.  Basically a person’s worst nightmare.  So I’m out $40, all day Saturday spent altering them AND leather pants.  But I’ve got something else up my sleeve to make up for it – still involving leather, just with less of a risk.  So . . . moral of the story: don’t buy faux leather pants on Ebay and be sure to constantly check my blog to see what I make to wear with this, the fanciest shirt ever.

Enjoy the weekend, tootsies.
