24 days . . . Okay so remember when I said I couldn’t wear a necklace with my wedding gown, ’cause everything looked terrible with it? Well that was before I added the bolero – now necklaces look AWESOME. This was a very exciting discovery for me, because I really, really, really wanted a fancy J.Crew-style necklace. You know the super awesome layered necklaces they’ve been pumping out lately – each one more heartbreaking than the one before? I LOVE them. I don’t love spending a bunch of money on wedding jewelry though. I know it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing and all, but I guess I’d just rather spend my money on other things. So . . .
I was in Target over the weekend and spotted a pretty cute gold chain necklace with over-sized pearls scattered throughout and thought to myself “What the Hell? It’s $15. If it looks crummy with my dress, I’ll just return it.” After Target, I went across the street to Joann (obviously I spend a lot of time there) and wandered into the jewelry aisle for the first time ever. There I found some cute faux-pearls in pale pink and grey (our wedding colors) and then I thought “Oh man, I’m totally gonna make that necklace so fancy.” And I did:
I also added one of the cute flower fittings (see it over there in the upper left corner?) I was telling you about earlier. And let me tell you, it looks AWESOME with my dress. I love this necklace. I had to force myself to take it off yesterday, although I kinda think it’s okay to wear it before the wedding. Who cares, right? My mom (a super-skilled jewelry maker) did agree to rewire the flower thing, ’cause I seriously have no idea what I’m doing with that stuff. But my crappy jewelry-making skills aside, I think this is pretty rad. I mean, it was only twenty dollars!
