We’re on a tight wedding budget and I’m trying to make as much as humanly possible to save some cash (while keeping everything adorable). My first thought was to order fresh flowers and tie them into bouquets the day of the wedding, but that sounded way too stressful and rushed for me. Then a lightbulb went off:
This incredible idea belongs to Tresa Edmunds, the gal behind Reese Dixon (who has a tutorial posted here). I took her original concept – melting the edges of polyester organza (I used poly chiffon and pongee lining) – then gathered the flower petals together at the base and sewed them to floral wire to create a different style of flower. I made flowers in varying sizes, using a layer of apple green chiffon for leaves. I added feathers and leaves cut from gray felt (taped to floral wire) and then inserted everything into a foam cone. The foam is covered with tissue paper and will be dressed up with ribbon.
I really love these. It only cost me $20 to make them all, and I made them months in advance! Matching boutonnieres and mothers’ corsages coming up soon – stay tuned!
If ever you would like more information or instructions for a project I have created, please let me know in the comments. I will be happy to write an extended post with more details. Thanks!

I really would love a detailed tutorial on how you made these bouquets. I checked out the original tutorial and her flowers look so different than yours. If you have the time please share.
I’d really love a more detailed post on these!!! How did you “sew them to floral wire?” My wedding is next summer and we’re doing a ton of DIY….it would really help to be able to get all of the flowers done well in advance!

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS. The toxins that come off of this can be deadly. I’ve gone through months of testing trying to find something that will help with the constant chest pain and shortness of breath.
For sure if you suffer from asthma or any related breathing problems, I would be super extra careful. I personally did not experience any problems, nor did any of my friends who were around this project. As with anything, if you start to experience anything as serious as chest pains . . . walk away and do something else. Sorry you’re not feeling well, May!
Wow!! This is so inspiring!!!!!! Great job
